KTH Royal Institute of Technology

Project description

The project is partly funded by the KTH strategic framework of Digital Futures and is concerned with computational modelling of cortical cognitive architecture to support goal-directed behaviour and decision making function. A successful candidate is expected to build on the previous work in the group with focus on large-scale spiking neural network models of memory. Within the project's scope it is intended to validate the network model with experimental data.

The applicant is expected to have background in computer science and keen interest in computational and cognitive neuroscience, or a related interdisciplinary field with neurobiological aspects. Previous experience in computational modelling of physical systems is desirable and competence in time series analysis and computational neuroscience constitutes a valuable asset.

The position is based in the Computational Brain Science unit, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH. Our research environment is conducive to synergistic approaches to a wide range of brain research problems with contributions to, e.g., neurorobotics, computational vision, computational brain theory, cognitive science, neuromorphic computing, artificial intelligence and data science.

Third-cycle subject: Computer Science, Computational Biology track

Supervision: Doctoral student supervised by Pawel Herman
