Third-cycle subject: Physics with specialisation in Nuclear Engineering
In this project the design and safety analysis of a lead-cooled research reactor will be carried out, applying a risk oriented approach and using a suite of simulation tools, including Monte Carlo, system, CFD, thermo-mechanical and radiological assessment codes. The student will contribute to extending the capabilities of the transient simulation code BELLA, which is developed by KTH.
The project aims at producing parts of a safety analysis report that, pending future funding, will be submitted to SSM as part of an application for permission to build the research reactor.
This position is linked to the SUNRISE centre funded by SSF, where KTH, LTU and UU will perform research needed to develop a Swedish lead-cooled Gen-IV research reactor, in collaboration with major industrial stakeholders.

Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
