Third-cycle subject: Physics, specialization Optics and Photonics
This is an employment as doctoral student within the research project “Retinal image quality in juvenile myopia” financed by the Swedish Research Council. The project includes: (1) development of instrumentation and routines to measure the image quality of the eye with different levels of refractive errors and near work, (2) utilizing the developed instrument for measurements on children in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet, and (3) analysis of measurement data with the aim to identify biomarkers for nearsightedness. The candidate should have a broad knowledge of optics as well as experience in laboratory work and programming (e.g. in MatLab). Applicants must be strongly motivated for doctoral studies, be able to work independently and perform critical analysis as well as having good cooperative and communicative skills. Solid knowledge in written and spoken English is necessary.
The recruited doctoral student will work in the Visual Optics group at Biomedical and X-Ray Physics, department of Applied Physics, School of Engineering Sciences at KTH in Stockholm
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Assoc. Prof. Linda Lundström and Assoc. Prof. Peter Unsbo.

Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
