Technical contribution to research project.

Background

The vision of the Industry 4.0, with modular, flexible and self-optimizing factories require new developments in the automation of industrial processes. The Vinnova SpiceDrives project  contributes to these developments by providing a solution that builds extensively on the computing capacities of today’s electric drives.

Project description

We are now in the second phase of the project when communication capabilities should be incorporated in the electric drive testbed. The tasks to be completed by a research engineer are as follows:

  • Understanding the capabilities and experimenting with the 5G testbed in KTH Campus. Providing detailed measurements on uplink and downlink service quality from outside as well as from inside of the buildings.
  • Deployment of a small testbed mimicking the situation the where drive to drive communication would happen through the 5G access network.

The work requires high level of independence, but the student will be supported by PhD students working with networking and electric drives respectively, as well as by industry experts.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence.

Preferred qualifications

  • Started master education within the areas of communication systems and networks, or similar. Previous experience with network hardware and software is an advantage.
  • Independence
  • Teamwork

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
