Job description

The Rail Vehicle research group at the Department of Engineering Mechanics in the School of Engineering Sciences KTH is looking for a student who wants to contribute to our current project on designing a test rig. The position is around 20% of full-time for 3-6 month (to be decided).

The following subtasks shall be carried out during the project time:

  • Preparing a CAD model of the reference test rig design
  • If possible, developing innovative variations of the reference test rig and preparing the CAD models
  • Design and modelling of safety guards for the test rig in CAD environment
  • Design and modelling of brackets/structures for instrumentation of the test rig
  • The CAD model should have construction details (screws, welding, approximate tolerances of each part, etc.)
  • Field study (where to buy the components; locating possible workshops for performing lathing, welding and the assembly job.)

Qualifications

Requirements

You must be admitted to studies at MS level at KTH and have good:

  • knowledge in English
  • ability to express yourself in both speech and writing
  • good grades

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency. 

Preferred qualifications

The successful candidate is expected to have experience in working with Solid Edge.

It is a merit if the candidate has prior design experience.
