Subject description

Real estate economics is an applied subject area that, with the help of economic theories and methodological tools, studies building and real estate markets with their specific properties also as part of technical systems. The employment's focus on economics includes system analyzes of the changes that, for example, digitalization and various sustainability aspects create in the public construction sector with a special focus on real estate and construction. Applications can be found in both commercial real estate markets and housing markets.

Duties

The position as associate professor includes teaching in courses at basic and advanced level as well as supervision of doctoral students. The associate professor is expected to conduct his or her own research and actively work to fund it. Participation in the development of the department's other activities and faculty assignments is also expected. The associate professor’s activities are expected to contribute to meeting KTH's goals in sustainable development. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If necessary, a language plan is drawn up to support employment.

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  1. been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve , and
  2. demonstrated teaching expertise.

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • scientific skills in the subject area, including the ability to apply for and receive research funding in competition.
  • pedagogical skills in the subject area.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • the ability to pursue third-stream activities and also provide information about research and development work.
  • expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.
  • interpersonal skills.

It is also important that the applicant has

  • administrative expertise.
