Subject description

The subject area comprises prerequisites for learning and communication, educational and learning processes as well as the outcomes and impact of engineering education. The areas is interdisciplinary and closely linked to practice and policy.

Duties

The associate professor will primarily conduct teaching within KTH:s educational development courses and within the doctoral program. In addition, it includes initiating and working on research and development projects in Engineering Education. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If needed, a language support plan will be devised as support at the time of employment.

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  1. been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve, and
  2. demonstrated teaching expertise.

Grounds of assessment
The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • research expertise in the subject field.
  • teaching skills in the subject field.
  • experience of pedagogical development projects in higher education, preferably within KTH:s engineering science areas.
  • expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • the ability to pursue third-stream activities and also provide information about research and development work.
  • interpersonal skills.

It is also important that the applicant has

  • administrative expertise.
