The position is in the field of Social Lifecycle Assessment (S-LCA). S-LCA is based on Environmental Lifecycle Analysis (LCA), but with the aim of assessing the impacts from products and services on people and societies. The method is not yet fully established and applied, and inspiring and challenging further research is required to develop and improve it.

Job description

An important part of the S-LCA methodology is the method for Impacts Assessment. The task for this position is to work within this area, and more specifically to define and develop so called Impact Pathways. These are cause-and-effect chains, where an activity in the value chain is scientifically linked to one or more consequences, ending up in social impacts on relevant stakeholders. A number of Impact Pathways are already defined, but many more are needed to enable the assessment of aggregated social impacts from value chain activities on stakeholders, based on Impact Pathways. The publication of at least two scientific papers, in collaboration with other researcher, is expected. Further, the position includes 10-20 % lecturing and/or supervision of master students. The positon is financed within a research project funded by Formas, a government research council for sustainable development (https://bit.ly/3masJ3v). The work will be conducted in close cooperation with researcher Elisabeth Ekener. The position is located at the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, Dept for Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering (SEED), Div for Sustainability Assessment and Management (https://bit.ly/2TiFug2).

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline (Whit some exceptions for special reasons such as periods of sick or parental leave, kindly indicate if such reason exists in your resume).
  • You must have experience in the research area Social Life Cycle Analysis.

  • As a person, you are enterprising and analytical. You must be able to show proof of scientific skill, and have the ability to assimilate and synthesize the research area. You should be able to work in cooperation with others, but still work independently. As teaching and supervision are included in the position, you are expected to possess good pedagogical skills.

  • Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency

Preferred qualifications

  • It is meriting if you have worked specifically with Impact Pathways within S-LCA.

  • Especially meritorious is if you have scientific publications in the field.

  • We look positively on you having access to an international network of researchers in the field

  • Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality

About the employment
