Third-cycle subject: Physics with specialisation in Nuclear Energy Engineering
The project aims to develop a methodology to create models for physical property degradation of advanced nuclear fuel in operation and accident conditions by coupling experiments and modeling. In this way it will be possible to obtain a full description of this system and build a model to support operational safety in reactor. To achieve the planned goal the PhD will work in the following tracks:
Fabrication and characterization of UN fuel
Degradation of thermophysical properties of UN fuel
Nuclear Fuel Multi–Scale Simulations
This position is linked to the SUNRISE centre funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), where KTH, LTU and UU will perform the research needed to fast track the development of a Swedish lead-cooled Gen-IV research reactor, in collaboration with major industrial stakeholders.
