The Candidate will work at the division for Robotics, Perception, and Learning, an internationally recognized research environment with several prominent researchers, good access to advanced laboratory environments, and well-established contacts with both other research institutions and advanced industry.
We are looking for a Ph.D. student to research adaptive physical human-robot interaction. Within traditional industrial robot applications, tasks to be performed by robots or humans are typically well separated, but in new and coming applications, there is an increasing need for robots and humans to work on the same tasks, in close collaboration. To achieve this, there is a need for new technologies and knowledge, to enable efficient use of the robot to enhance the human's work, at the same time ensuring the safety and comfort of the human.
The applicant is expected to work within the project "Advanced Adaptive Intelligent Systems", which is an interdisciplinary research project aiming to develop technical systems to aid people in their daily lives. The project includes collaboration with researchers from other fields, such as human-computer interaction, health care technology, and dialogue systems. The goal is to develop systems that can adapt to the individual needs and preferences of different users, in order to provide good help as possible.
A suitable background for the candidate is having knowledge in and experience from robotics, automatic control, machine learning, AI, or similar, and to have good programming skills and experience working with different software and hardware systems.

Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
