Biophysics is one of the divisions of The Department of Applied Physics. The research at Biophysics is multidisciplinary with focus-areas biophysics, bioinformatics, computational biophysics, neurobiology, and immunology. Techniques used include bio-probe development, biomedical microdevices, bioinformatics and fluorescence imaging with special focus on super resolution imaging and single-cell screening. The research activities of Biophysics are concentrated to the bioscience hub Science for Life Laboratory, where we also head the national super resolution facility Advanced Light Microscopy (ALM).

Job description

The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary research team focused on research questions related to natural killer cell and T cell mediated immunity, and the application of these cells in cancer immunotherapy. The position is divided into two parts, where 50% of the time is devoted to cell culture with particular emphasis on isolation of immune cells from blood and tumor cells from biopsies. The other 50% of the time will be devoted to general lab work with focus on ordering and handling reagents and material for the division of Biophysics, KTH, Scilifelab, Solna.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence.

The applicant should have an education within Biomedical analysis, Biotechnology, Immunology, Tumor biology or similar. You should have practical experience of cell culture and ideally of isolation of immune cells from blood or tumor cells from human biopsies. Previous work experience from routine or research laboratories is a plus. The applicant should be used to working with computers and previous experience from electronic inventory, purchasing or economic systems is an advantage.    

Preferred qualifications

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability. The applicant should be able to work independently, take responsibility, be flexible and social.
