KTH, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health

Job description

The increasing electrification of our vehicle fleet leads to a great demand for lithium-ion-based batteries. These batteries contain a variety of precious metals. Demand for these metals will increase in the future and there is a need to develop new efficient recycling methods. We are looking for a candidate with a background in chemistry or chemical engineering, having expertise in organometallic chemistry, synthesis of inorganic materials and crystallization and with the ability to apply this knowledge to develop industrially applicable processes. The project focuses on environmentally friendly recycling of battery materials using deep eutectic solvents. The research is focused on selective precipitation of metal salts with specific properties from these liquids. The research project focuses on both fundamental science and industrial applicability. The postdoctoral fellow will have regular contact with other researchers who collaborate in the project at KTH and at Uppsala University and with industry representatives in a reference group. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to be able to work both independently and together with colleagues.

This position is a full-time position for one year with the possibility of extension for another year. Start date is open for discussion, but we would like to see the position filled as soon as possible. The project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency.
