Wireless Communication

Subject description

Wireless communication includes methods for design and analysis of wireless communication systems. The subject spans from models for propagation, antenna systems and spectrum resource management to communication protocols and performance analysis of large scale mobile communication systems.

Duties

The work consists of developing KTH’s research and education within the subject field. The duties comprise supervision of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, and establishment of research collaborations within and outside of KTH. Other responsibilities are education in subjects in the first and second cycles; for example courses in wireless and mobile communication systems. Moreover, the professor should interact with industry and society, and in particular, contribute to the development of KTH's strategic industrial collaborations in the subject field. The professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If needed, a language support plan will be devised at the time of employment.

Eligibility

A person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as professor.

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as a professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.1, apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • research expertise in the subject field, shown by scientific results and published scholarly work in internationally recognized academic periodicals or conferences.
  • a clear and innovative research plan, extensive international experience, including novel contributions to strategic development of the subject field in Sweden.
  • experience, ability and insight in pedagogical development and teaching in the subject field.
  • ability to establish and develop projects and cooperation within research and education
  • expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes cooperation with the surrounding society and knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • administrative expertise.
  • interpersonal skills
