Job description

We are looking for a highly-qualified and motivated research engineer in getting hands-on research experience in the area of Machine Learning and Robotics. The research engineer will join a research team at the Division of Robotics, Perception, and Learning (RPL) led by Professor Danica Kragic. The project involves the development of state-of-the-art machine learning techniques applied to robotic applications. The research engineer develops robot software, collects data, devise machine learning algorithms to acquire complex robotics skills through interaction and learning.

Supervision: The research engineer will be supervised by Professor Danica Kragic and Dr. Ali Ghadirzadeh.

Qualifications

Requirements

The candidate should have completed a master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, robotics, computer vision, or similar. Candidates with a Ph.D. degree are also welcomed to apply.

  • Excellent software development and integration skills in Python and C/C++.
  • Experience in developing robotic manipulation systems Experience in Robotic Operating System (ROS)
  • Experience in robotic simulation engines, e.g., pybullet and MuJoCo.
  • Solid mathematical and deep learning background.
  • Experience in deep learning algorithms and libraries, e.g., PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates applying for this position are comfortable working in groups as well as independently, and you have a good sense of structure in your daily work tasks. Candidates should also have:

  • competence in the field of industry
  • Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality
