KTH , School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

Project description

Third-cycle subject: Computer science

In Security Operations Centers (SOC), the large amount of data generated by the computer networks of organisations such as companies or institutions are analysed to either automatically respond, or to alert human operators, for the presence of cyber attacks.

In order to achieve this, it is necessary to in real-time detect cyber intrusions, to respond to security incidents, to hunt for threats in the environment and to gather threat intelligence. This presents a number of exciting research challenges for machine learning and more in general for artificial intelligence. The present doctoral project aims to identify the limitations of the state-of-the-art, establish, and develop machine learning methods to automate SOC operations.

In this position, 80% of the employee's time is allocated to KTH while 20% is dedicated to the cyber security startup company Cparta. Cparta Cyber Defense delivers state of the art Cyber Security solutions and services to the Swedish market with the objective to enable secure digitalization.

We are looking for motivated students who are eager to push the frontiers of machine learning and artificial intelligence for their application to SOC.

Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by Pontus Johnson (KTH), Carlo Fischione (KTH) and Johan von Konow (Cparta Cyber Defense).
