Hydrogen is expected to be a key component in a future fossil-free society in sectors of energy, transportation and industrial production of chemicals and materials. The research centre PUSH (Production, Use and Storage of Hydrogen) addresses scientific and technical hurdles impeding the widespread use of hydrogen, by combining activities on production, storage, distribution and use of hydrogen, in a single coordinated research effort. Researchers at KTH, Lund University, Umeå University, Chalmers University of Technology and at the institute RISE will lead this challenging work.
There is a need for more sustainable large-scale processes for hydrogen generation. Electrolysis of water provides a clean and emission-free route for the direct transfer of renewable electrical energy into hydrogen gas. In the present research we will focus on polymer membrane electrolytic cells based on new classes of alkaline membranes, which enable the use of abundant catalyst material such as nickel and are better adopted to respond to fast load changes. New membranes and catalysts will be synthesized by partners within PUSH, and investigated for electrolysis at KTH.
The post doctor will be working at the division of applied electrochemistry, with about 30 PhD students and seniors doing research in the fields of batteries, fuel cells and electrolytic processes in an international and creative environment. The work will be mainly experimental in character and conducted in close collaboration with those active in the project and with researchers in the electrochemistry group. Read more about the division here.

Requirements
A doctoral degree in applied electrochemistry or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline (some exceptions for special reasons such as periods of sick or parental leave, kindly indicate if such reason exists in your resume).
Of particular importance is the applicants’ research expertise and creative ideas in the subject field. To have worked experimentally with water electrolysis or fuel cells, in with particular with alkaline membrane cells, provides a useful qualification. Candidates should also have good knowledge in English and a good ability to express themselves in both speech and writing.
