The particle and astroparticle physics group conducts experimental and theoretical research in both particle- and astroparticle physics. The group is active in the ATLAS experiment at the CERN LHC, in particular in measurements of the Higgs boson and in searches for supersymmetric particles. The astroparticle physics group conducts multi-wavelength studies of compact celestial objects with a focus on X-/gamma-rays. We participate in the Fermi mission and are developing balloon-borne X-ray polarimeters. We also participate in the EUSO mission for the detection of ultra-high energy cosmic-rays. Members of the group are active in theoretical research in neutrino physics and supersymmetric models. The group is a member of The Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics, okc.albanova.se, and collaborates with groups at Stockholm University located in the same building.
The group in experimental particle physics, whose research is based at the ATLAS-experiment at CERN, consists of two faculty members, a researcher and two graduate students. We are involved in measurements of the Higgs boson and in searches for physics beyond the standard model and dark matter, for example in searches for supersymmetric particles and new long-lived particles. We have made significant contributions to the design, construction and commissioning of the Liquid Argon calorimeter. For the upgrade of the ATLAS detector, we are involved in the new High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD), in particular in its capacity for measuring the luminosity.
The postdoc will primarily work with the KTH upgrade responsibilities for the High Granularity Timing Detector. This will primarily involve programming in C++ and Python, and to participate in the development of the firmware for the electronic boards (FELIX) that receive the data from the detector.
Furthermore, the postdoc will contribute to the work needed to operate the ATLAS experiment. The KTH group has an institutional commitment to the measurement of the luminosity using reconstructed tracks, and some time is expected be devoted to this effort.
The postdoc is expected to contribute to physics analysis, where there are several possibilities to do so in one of the efforts already being pursued in the group.

Requirements
Documented experience of programming in c++ and Python is required.
Preferred qualifications
Membership of the ATLAS collaboration is highly valuable. If not already a qualified member of the ATLAS collaboration, the candidate must have experience of detector work in another high-energy physics experiment, which is relevant to the KTH group upgrade responsibilities.
Prior experience of firmware programming is considered valuable. Experience with an ATLAS upgrade project or of working within one of the ATLAS detector communities is an advantage. The candidate must be able to demonstrate prior physics analysis experience.
We seek candidates who are dedicated, motivated and have documented experience of independent work. Good communication skills and experience of working in a team are meriting.
Teaching abilities.
Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.
