Third-cycle subject: Media Technology
The project you will work in is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency and is titled “Sonic interaction design to support energy efficiency behavior in the household”.
Based on our research on sound computing, sound design, interaction design, behavior change, and energy, we will develop novel everyday sonic interactions that promote energy efficiency. Your task will be to design, prototype, and develop everyday sonic interactions to be embedded in home appliances, smart meters, etc. Without adding to the myriad of “beeps” in our life, we will create new everyday sounds meant to be felt, implicitly understood, rather than listened to. The project benefits from access to high-resolution energy data of the KTH Live-in Lab and its individual and shared spaces for testing. Your work will take place at the Division of Media Technology and Interaction design (MID).
