Subject description

The academic discipline encompasses studies on how digital technologies can be developed and used to support education and learning.

Duties

The associate professor is expected to initiate and work in research projects on digital transformation of education and lead and work in research and development projects within digital learning at KTH. Moreover, the associate professor will teach in the research education and in KTH’s teacher education and/or courses in teaching and learning for teachers at KTH within E-learning Research and Development. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If needed, a language support plan will be devised at the time of employment.

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  1. been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve, and
  2. demonstrated teaching competence.

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • teaching skills in the subject field.
  • research expertise in the subject field.
  • experience of development projects within digital learning in higher education, preferably related to one of the engineering science disciplines at KTH.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • interpersonal skills.
  • expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

It is also important that the applicant has

  • ability to collaborate with external stakeholders and provide information about research and development work.
  • administrative expertise.
