School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health (CBH) is one of the five schools of KTH and a strong constellation for research and education in the broader areas of health, environment, energy and materials. See our homepage: https://www.kth.se/en/cbh
This position is located at Science for Life Laboratory. For more information please se our homepage: https://www.scilifelab.se
Third-cycle subject: Gene Technology
The Molecular Genomics lab investigates genome regulation, chromatin architecture and transcriptional mechanisms. We use and develop techniques that track nascent transcription at a nucleotide-resolution, measuring rate-limiting steps of transcription at genes and enhancers. The broad scope of Your project is to gain mechanistic understanding on how chromatin architecture and transcription are coordinated at genes and enhancers, and how cells orchestrate transcriptional program in physiologically relevant settings, such as acute stress responses, differentiation and disease progression.
The Molekylar Genomics laboratory is part of Science for Life Laboratory (http://www.scilifelab.se/), a national center for Natural Sciences in Sweden.
As a PhD student in Molecular Genomics, you will investigate genome organisation, mechanisms of transcription and cellular responses. You will use and develop advanced biochemical methods and data analytical tools, including run-on, ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq based genome-wide assays. The successful candidate will take a strong lead on planning and performing original research in the fields of cell and molecular biology, genomics and gene technology. You are driven and motivated to understand how transcription is orchestrated at genes and enhancers, and how developmental processes, rapid cellular responses and transcriptional memory are mechanistically regulated in cells and organisms.
Supervision: Assistant Professor, Anniina Vihervaara.
