Third-cycle subject: Information and Communication Technology
The project aims for electronics-photonics integration, either by incorporating optically active III-V semiconductor-based components in a CMOS circuitry or by developing III-V/Si hybrid components whose function is based on the combination of the different material systems. The work is mainly experimental in character and will involve process development in a clean room environment, but it also electro-optical simulations for component design and optimization as well as materials and component analysis. The experimental work is carried out at the KTH Electrum Laboratory, a leading cleanroom facility for semiconductor development and nanotechnology. A suitable background is a master's degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology or photonics. The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Prof. Mattias Hammar (KTH), Doc. Per-Erik Hellström (KTH) and Adj. Prof. Qin Wang (KTH/RISE).
Front-line research in a high-tech and dynamic environment at the Electrum Laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities for semiconductor processing and nanotechnology.
