Third-cycle subject: Applied and Computational Mathematics specialization Mathematical Statistics and Optimization and Systems Theory
In this doctoral project we will focus on problems at the intersection of probability theory, stochastic analysis and optimization and systems theory. In particular, we will study optimization problems featuring stochastic processes and martingale conditions using optimal transport theory. This theory is applicable to a range of problems within mathematical finance, physics and systems theory.
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Associate Professors Sigrid Källblad and Johan Karlsson.

We seek a person with strong background in mathematics, with a degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or similar. Knowledge and demonstrated understanding in probability theory, optimization and mathematical finance is meriting. The successful applicant should also be strongly motivated, have the capability to work independently, be able to work in a team and have good communication skills. Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
