As part a cross-department initiative, the department of Engineering Mechanics announces a postdoc position within the thematic area Energy, Transport and Future Mobility (ETFM) on the topic of aerodynamic design of bio-inspired, laminar-flow wings in ground effect for application of hybrid-electric ekranoplans. This position is one of eight postdoc positions in the thematic areas of Biomechanics, Health and Biotechnology, Advanced Material and Structures, Energy, Transport and Future Mobility, and Advanced Computing and Machine Learning.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will take part in setting the foundation for establishing a new research track within the department in the topic of advanced aircraft design for sustainable aviation and contribute to on-going student-lead research projects.

Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with a doctoral degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in aerospace or mechanical engineering. The degree must have been obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline. Exceptions for special reasons such as periods of sick or parental leave may be granted. Please indicate if such reason exists in your resume.
Requirements for the position are proven knowledge in aerodynamics and numerical simulations methods with applications to aircraft aerodynamics. Additional merits for this position are knowledge in fundamentals of aircraft design and experimental techniques.
Applicants must be strongly motivated for research, have the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment. Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in the English language, both written and oral. Additional merit will be given to candidates that have shown teaching abilities*. Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.
* Supervision of student-lead research work in aircraft design, as well as master thesis supervision. The proportion is set individually, but supervision and teaching may in total not exceed 20% of full-time employment
