Third-cycle subject: Electrical Engineering
The sixth generation of cellular networks (6G) will be equipped with intelligent, programmable and real-time controllable surfaces. These surfaces will enable to shape the wireless propagation environment and to interact with the cellular infrastructure and user devices. Understanding, analyzing, dimensioning and optimizing these new types of wireless networks require new and well-proven approaches, analysis methods, including machine-learning techniques.
This project is part of MSCA MetaWireless, within which the doctoral student spends some periods of the education abroad and/or in an industrial environment. The doctoral student has the chance to combine deep theoretical studies with practical feasibility studies together with international academic and industry partners, including Ericsson Research. The Division of Decision and Control Systems host the project.

Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
