Job description

We invite applications for one research engineer position to the Smart Mobility Lab (SML). The advertised position is concerned with the development and maintenance of hardware and software for both ground and aerial robots. With respect to the hardware, it is expected that the different robots and their components are maintained, and that new and heterogeneous hardware components are integrated with them. With respect to the software, it is expected that a software platform to develop cooperative behaviors for ground and aerial robots is maintained and needed components be developed. The work to be developed is motivated by and within the scope of the EU research projects CANOPIES and ERC LEAFHOUND.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the following research subjects (or equivalent): Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS), as well as with at least C++ or Python programming languages, is mandatory.
  • Good command of English, orally and in writing, is required.
  • Applicants should have a solid academic record and well developed analytical and problem solving skills. We are looking for a strongly motivated and self-driven person who is able to work and learn new things independently.

Preferred qualifications

  • Degree with a focus in Control and/or Robotics is meritorious.
  • Competence in the field, from industrial experience or similar past positions.
  • Collaborative abilities.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.
