Third-cycle subject: Engineering Mechanics
This project, funded by the Promobilia Foundation, will focus on the shoulder in persons with spinal cord injury who use a wheelchair. Objectives are 1) to model & analyze shoulder muscle, tendon & skeletal forces during daily wheelchair-related activity, using both experimental movement analysis and biomechanical modelling, and 2) design of assistive devices and/or exoskeletons that can relieve the shoulder in daily activities.
The PhD student will join the research group at the KTH MoveAbility Lab and will conduct the project in collaboration with the Spinalis cllinic and Rehab Station Stockholm, as well as Karolinska Institutet.
The candidate should have a master’s or equivalent in mechanical, biomechanical or biomedical engineering, engineering physics, or equivalent.

Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
