Subject description

The subject field includes studies of methods and models in corporate finance and asset valuation, financial control and the effects of financial management and financing issues on corporations and technology-based businesses.

Duties

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses and supervision of master’s and doctoral students. In terms of research, the successful candidate is expected to be active in the subject research field (demonstrated through a track record of publications in highly ranked journals and active participation in internationally-renowned conferences). The successful candidate is also expected to actively apply for external research grants. It is important that the successful candidate participates in multidisciplinary research and educational activities within the field of industrial economics and management. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to participate in departmental and university related development. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute to KTH’s goals for sustainability, gender equality, diversity and equal treatment. The successful candidate is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. KTH offers support in learning Swedish as part of the employment.

Eligibility

Applicants must have:

  1. been awarded a PhD or have the corresponding relevant scientific competence or professional expertise with respect to the job description, and
  2. demonstrate pedagogical expertise. 

Grounds of assessment


The selection criteria for the position as Associate Professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required to meet qualification criteria for employment. In addition, the selection criteria stated in the KTH recruitment procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest significance is that the candidate has

  • research expertise in the subject field, demonstrated through publications in highly ranked journals and active participation in conferences in the subject field. It is also of the highest importance to demonstrate capability to obtain external research funding.
  • teaching skills in the subject field, which includes high-quality teaching given a substantial past teaching volume at both the undergraduate and graduate level within the subject field.

Of second highest significance is that the candidate has

  • expertise in faculty development and management.
  • collaboration skills.

It is also important that the applicant has

  • knowledge of issues related to gender equality, diversity and equal treatment.
  • the ability to collaborate and communicate research and development to societal institutions outside academia.
  • administrative expertise.
