Job description

We are looking for students interested in getting hands-on research experience in the area of Robotics. The amanuensis will be part of Associate Prof. Florian Pokorny’s research team (https://www.csc.kth.se/~fpokorny/) at the Division of Robotics, Perception, and Learning (RPL) at KTH (https://www.kth.se/rpl) and will assist an effort within the project DARMA_BRIDGE (https://wasp-sweden.org/first-three-industry-bridge-projects-selected/) funded by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (wasp-sweden.org). The amanuensis will contribute to designing robotic hardware prototypes for an experimental robotic platform that is being developed by the group and which will be used to generate training data for machine learning algorithms.

Qualifications

Requirements

You should be admitted to education at the basic or advanced level at KTH.

  • The candidate should be enrolled in a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, robotics, computer vision, machine learning, or similar.  

Preferred qualifications

  • Some experience with DIY Electronics/Mechanical Engineering or Rapid Prototyping methods such as 3D printing/CNC or Laser cutting, Arduino/Raspberry Pi.
  • Experience with projects (e.g. at course level) related to Robotics, Control, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or similar.
  • Excellent software development and integration skills, preferably in Python and C
  • Solid mathematical background.
  • Familiarity with computer vision, motion capture, robot-specific algorithms, and methodologies or machine learning algorithms and tools.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. 

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.
