Third-cycle subject: Computer Science
Project 1: We will develop a model that initially mostly represent the geometry of the world. By incorporating prior knowledge and further observations, the model would gradually shift into containing increasingly more instances of objects, potentially with estimated object properties such as the 3D shape, material and weight. The approach to this will be to combine a monolithic 3D map representation with learned object models.
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Patric Jensfelt
Project 2: As robots move from controlled environments to our everyday lives, it is important that they work as intended – that they meet desired requirements whenever possible, but violate them if necessary. This project aims to design risk-aware planning and/or control methodology to guide robots that are given spatial and temporal requirements. To that end, classical tools from robot planning and control will be utilized alongside with formal methods.
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Jana Tumova
