Project description

Third-cycle subject: Technology and learning

The doctoral student position belongs to the research cluster Digital learning (https://www.kth.se/larande/forskning/digitalt-larande-1.805895). Digital learning research examines how technology can support education and learning in schools, teacher education and higher education. The doctoral position will be affiliated with the national graduate school on digital technologies in education (https://graderesearch.umu.se/). The graduate school is a collaboration between nine higher education institutions. Doctoral courses and seminars are arranged through the graduate school.

The project focuses on how to support presence in blended and/or distance education. Research has showed that students need support for how they can interact with their teachers, other students and course materials to succeed in their studies. The project is based on the Community of Inquiry framework, which focuses on how social, cognitive and teaching presence can be supported. The research can be carried out in remote education (Swe. Fjärrundervisning), adult education (Swe. Komvux), teacher education or higher education.
