In this project, you will investigate the effects of the origin, chemical composition and morphological properties of lignocellulose fibres on the LCNF’s production process (nanofibrillation) and on the properties of the final product; evaluate of nanocellulose with controlled lignin content in energy and other applications.
This involves experimental work in the laboratory, responsibility for certain analytical instruments, publications of research results in the form of scientific articles, supervision.
The project is financially supported by the Wood and Pulping Chemistry Research Network, WPCRN, (FPT, KTH) and will include interaction and close collaboration with the pulp and paper industry.

Requirements
Doctoral degree or foreign degree that is deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree in some of the following areas:
Strong documented experience in at least one of the following areas is required: separation and characterization of wood polymers, manufacture and characterization of lignocellulose-based materials, including CNF / MFC, LNPs, etc., composites and other products. Previous experience of developing various bio-based materials for energy applications is desirable.
Preferred qualifications
The successful candidate must have an excellent academic record of achievements, well-developed analytical skills and problem-solving skills. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who can contribute with his own ideas and can work independently, and has a good ability to collaborate. Good knowledge of English oral and in writing is necessary to publish and present research results in international conferences and journals.
To be successful in this role you need to have good research expertise and organizational skills with a high degree of independence. You have a teaching ability. You also have pedagogical skills and ability to inform about research and development work including excellent writing and communication skills. You have the ability to work towards research results being utilised in practice.
Experience of developing and leading activities and staff and knowledge of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality are considered a merit.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.
