Third-cycle subject: Physics, specialisation Nuclear Engineering
The project aims to develop and validate modelling approaches to analysis of Flow Accelerated Corrosion / Erosion (FAC/E) phenomena in Heavy Liquid Metal Cooled (HLM) Reactors. The work will include (i) development of models that can be used along with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for prediction of FAC/E characteristics in HLM reactors, (ii) analytical support to the design and operation of separate effect and component test facilities, (iii) interpretation of the test results for reduction of uncertainties in the modelling closures, and validation of the models.
This position is linked to the SUNRISE centre funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), where KTH, LTU and UU will perform the research needed to fast track the development of a Swedish lead-cooled Gen-IV research reactor, in collaboration with major industrial stakeholders. Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
