The position is placed at the Department of Fibre and Polymer Technology. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with FineCell Sweden.
The post doc person will be part of a team driven by the vision to enable a biobased and circular future by using advanced cellulose materials. At FineCell Sweden, all work is grounded in the understanding of science, and how this can be used to create real benefits to the society when commercialized. We will develop recyclable composites based on already recycled plastic in combination with FineCell’s cellulose products.
The goal of this project is to design and develop a recyclable composite based on recycled plastic and FineCell’s cellulose by addressing product’s end-of-life at the very beginning stage and to validate an industrial solution for composite based on recycled plastics.
Several years of top research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology has led to a unique and patented technology to produce sustainable micro-cellulose powder which FineCell is working to commercialize. This material has the potential to reduce and/or replace the use of fossil-based ingredients in composites, cosmetics, 3D printing and construction industries.
The project “Design and development of recycled alternative palternative to fossil-based plastics – towards a sustainable industry” is financed by FORMAS A Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development and FineCell Sweden AB.
