In this position as a researcher at the division of history of science, technology and environment you will contribute to research conducted as part of the research project "Harnessing the heat under our feet: Promises, pitfalls and spatialization of geothermal energy as a decarbonisation strategy" (HARNESS), funded by FORMAS (Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development).
The goal of the project is to improve our understanding of promises, pitfalls and diverse spatializations of geothermal energy to pave the way towards transformative change in decarbonization across urban energy landscapes.
You will conduct research on one or more Swedish case studies within the HARNESS project. The position includes, among other, the following tasks:
It's expected of you to contribute to further promoting energy humanities-related research within the department's Environmental Humanities Laboratory (EHL) in the form of applications and co-authored scientific articles.
This is a temporary employment for 15 months on part time (80%), with a request to start in January 2022.

Requirements
The main requirement is a completed doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or foreign degree that is deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree in environmental humanities, environmental science, environmental social sciences, human geography, political ecology or a related field. You have documented qualification in the form of publications in relevant academic journals is a requirement, preferably on themes linked to environmental humanities and political ecology in subjects of energy and environmental justice. Further you have experience with qualitative field work methods, preferably in topics related to energy and environmental justice, is a requirement. It's important that you have very good knowledge of spoken and written English, as required in the daily work.
Preferred qualifications
It's preferred that you have the ability to work to ensure that research results are useful, together with informing about research and development work. You are scientifically skilled, research expertise and preferably have a good teaching ability. Also, in this positions it's important to have knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a special focus on gender equality. You can work independently, , and have the ability to collaborate and coordinate work tasks. Previous experience of collaboration and co-research on geothermal energy, energy justice and/or environmental conflicts is an advantage. Proven familiarity with Q methodology and qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) methods is also an advantage. Further, it is preferable if you have experience of developing and leading activities and staff. For the position it is desirable with knowledge in any Scandinavian language.
