Job description

We at the Division of Glycoscience are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on a mucus engineering approach to develop new strategies to delivery novel antimicrobial agents to bacterial pathogens, within the context of the mucus gel.

The goal will be to develop nanoparticle system that can be loaded with anti-quorum sensing molecules, as well as novel peptide-based antimicrobials, and optimize the delivery vector for maximum efficacy within the mucus gel.

You will be traveling to our collaborators in Brazil to conduct the studies.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in the field of biomedicine or bioengineering.
  • Previous experience with nanoparticles formulation for drug delivery applications
  • Previous experience of bacterial culture and bacterial characterization
  • Research expertise
  • Teaching ability.
  • The ability to work towards research results being utilised in practice.
  • The ability to inform about research and development work
  • Collaborative abilities.
  • Independence.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with biopolymer chemistry or biomolecular engineering
  • Experience with antimicrobial drugs
  • Experience with biopolymer-based nanoparticles
  • Knowledgeable on bacterial quorum sensing
  • Knowledge of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
  • Experience of developing and leading activities and staff.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence.
