School of Engineering Sciences at KTH

Job description

We search for a highly motivated and experimentally qualified researcher for microscopic studies of ultra-fast magnetization dynamics (primarily on the ps time scale). You will be working in a strong research group investigating ultra-fast transition states and metastable phases with a unique, for Sweden, instrument for ultra-fast electron microscopy and diffraction, an ultra-fast electron microscope (UEM). The instrument is based on modified technologies from the fields of transmission electron microscopy and femtosecond lasers. By applying Lorentz UEM you will study ultra-fast dynamics in magnetism excited with spatially structured laser pulses (e.g. transient optical gratings).

Your research (approximately 80% of working time) will include UEM, nonlinear optics, femtosecond lasers, ultrafast dynamics in magnetism, TEM, ultrafast electron diffraction, and ultrafast electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). Responsibility for operation and maintenance of the UEM instrument, as well as experimental guidance for doctoral students. Teaching opportunities up to about 20% of working hours.

What we offer

  • A position at a leading technical university that generates knowledge and skills for a sustainable future.
  • Engaged and ambitious colleagues along with a creative, international and dynamic working environment
