Job description

We seek a driven and knowledgeable postdoc to carry out method development in organic synthesis for catalytic functionalization of lignin for material applications. The research will be carried out at the Department of Chemistry in collaboration with researchers at the Department of Fibre- and Polymer Technology. Specifically, you will be working with extraction of lignin from biomass, catalytic functionalization and characterization of materials using different techniques. Supervision of students may also become part of the work.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in organic chemistry. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Documented scientific skills in lignin characterization.
  • Documented ability to work independently as well as collaborative in a group.
  • Documented pedagogical skills and experience of supervising students on Bachelor and Master level.
  • The ability to skillfully communicate in English, verbally and in writing, since this is required in the daily work.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline. 
  • Awareness of diversity and equal treatment policies and practices.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.
