School of Engineering Sciences at KTH

Job description

We are looking for 1-2 highly qualified and highly motivated postdoctoral candidates in computational materials physics with a focus on magnetic properties, to work with Dr. Alexander Edström and Professor Anna Delin at KTH, Stockholm, Sweden. The research, which has emphasis on basic research, will be conducted in close collaboration with Professor Olle Eriksson's group at Uppsala University (materials theory) as well as with several experimental groups. You will use advanced first-principles electronic structure calculations, combined with atomistic spin Hamiltonians and/or phenomenological models to study fundamental magnetic and topological phenomena from a computational/theoretical perspective. Current research interests in the group include flexomagnetism, emergence of topological magnetic textures, topological magnons, 2D magnetic materials, and ultrafast physics in magnetic systems. The studied physical phenomena are of relevance for future information technology such as ultra-low-power spintronics and devices for neuromorphic computing.

What we offer

  • A position at a leading technical university that generates knowledge and skills for a sustainable future
  • Engaged and ambitious colleagues along with a creative, international and dynamic working environment
  • Work in Stockholm, in close proximity to nature
