KTH Royal Institute of Technology, School of Engineering Sciences

Job description

The goal of precision medicine is to provide healthcare with individualized treatments that are selected based on patient-specific biomarkers. Data-driven searches for new biomarkers will generate new hypothesis that will require validation, increasing the need for high-content screening with functional readouts. This has created a need for new methods for validating individualized treatments to personalize immunotherapy. In this project we will improve miniaturized cell assays developed in the Önfelt lab by implementing traditional image analysis and machine learning algorithms to decipher heterogenic immune responses. The project aims to develop software to 1) Assess cytotoxicity at the single cell level, 2) Decipher dynamics of effector-target cell interactions, and 3) Study NK or T cell responses in the tumour microenvironment. The research is based on clinical needs and a future goal is clinical implementation of a workflow for optimisation of personalized treatment.
