The Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering (SEED) conducts research and education focused on the sustainable development of society. SEED gathers a broad range of interdisciplinary expertise to conduct research that covers a wide field within environmental, engineering and sustainability issues.
The appointee will develop and use a variety of quantitative tools and approaches for investigating the impact of different water management strategies in the context of hydroclimatic extreme events, both regionally and globally. A core focus is to develop models and methodologies to better understand hydrological processes at different scales, in order to respond more efficiently to emerging water issues related to extreme events. It is essential for the applicant to have solid theoretical and applied background in big data analysis and large-scale water systems modeling, remote sensing and machine learning.
The candidate is expected to produce high-quality scientific papers, suitable for publication in high profile journals and presentations at national and international conferences, and contribute for external funding proposals.
