We are seeking 3 PhD students with a strong background and interest in Mathematics, Optimization, Machine Learning, and Wireless Networks. The following research directions will be investigated:
Third-cycle subject: Electrical Engineering
Supervision: The doctoral students will be supervised by Professor Carlo Fischione
To be admitted to postgraduate education (Chapter 7, 39 § Swedish Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility in accordance with either of the following:
Admission to third-cycle studies in Electrical Engineering requires the applicant to have completed courses equivalent to at least 120 higher education credits from second-cycle studies or higher in the subject Electrical Engineering or other subjects deemed directly relevant to the specialization in question. These requirements will also be considered fulfilled by applicants who have acquired the equivalent knowledge through other means. Normally, a master’s degree in the relevant research domain fulfills these requirements.

In order to succeed as a doctoral student at KTH you need to be goal oriented and persevering in your work. During the selection process, candidates will be assessed upon their ability to:
The candidates are expected to hold or to shortly receive an MSc degree in Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Electrical engineering, Computer Science or similar fields. The candidates should have excellent grades (especially on the theoretical subjects such as optimization theory or statistical signal processing or machine learning), very good skills in oral and written communication and well developed analytical and problem-solving skills. The candidates must be strongly interested into applied mathematical research (machine learning, optimization theory) for future wireless networks.
After the qualification requirements, great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.
Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
