Third-cycle subject: Fibre and Polymer Science
We are looking for a doctoral student interested in developing novel polymer concepts for fabrication of biopolymer-derived covalent adaptable networks (CAN): Ideally the materials will be designed to be melt-processable, mechanically and chemically recyclable and fully degradable in common natural environments through biodegradation and/or sunlight triggered degradation. Recycling volumes of many current plastics are still low. In addition, if left in natural environments they may persists for hundreds of years. The materials created within this project will be designed fully circular through multiple routes to contribute to sustainable society by reducing plastics environmental impacts.
The doctoral student will be admitted to a graduate programme that offers courses guaranteeing both breadth and depth of knowledge and skills. The work will be performed at the Department of Fibre and Polymer Technology. The doctoral student will be working in a constructive and inspiring scientific environment with the possibility of constructive collaborations within the field.
Supervision: Professor Minna Hakkarainen is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decisions are made on admission.
To be admitted to postgraduate education (Chapter 7, 39 § Swedish Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility in accordance with either of the following:
