School of Engineering Sciences at KTH

Job description

A smooth interaction between rail vehicles and track is crucial for the success of rail transportation ranging from heavy haul freight trains to high-speed passenger trains. Main issues are running safety, ride comfort and wheel-rail damage. In the upcoming research programme Europe´s Rail these aspects are fundamental and also in focus for the present postdoc position. KTH has a long collaboration with Trafikverket and others on vehicle-track interaction topics, not least in a European context. You will be involved in a number of projects where multibody dynamics simulation of vehicle-track interaction, emanating from wheel-rail interaction, is the main research tool. Usually also corresponding measurements are involved to support the research and innovation efforts. Some participation in PhD student supervision and MSc student teaching are foreseen.
