School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health at KTH

Syrén's research group currently recruits a postdoctoral fellow in polymer chemistry for the development of methods to generate biopolymers with tailored properties from biomass. The research is funded by FORMAS and involves collaboration with leading groups in Finland and Sweden. The main purpose of this research project is to develop methods for sustainable production of bio-based polyesters that are recyclable and that show the same properties as fossil-based polyolefins.

Job description

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of high-throughput polymer chemistry methods to generate material libraries based on sustainable building blocks. The postdoctoral duties include:

  • In silico generation of material libraries, followed by their chemical synthesis and evaluation
  • Material synthesis and characterization
  • Research carried out in this area is conducted at low TRL levels, ie below 4, which means that the research is of a fundamental nature
  • Actively contribute to the research group's activities, for example through supervision of bachelor / master students

The research will then be presented at international conferences and in international peer-reviewed journals.
