Sweden aims to become one of the world's first fossil-free welfare states by 2045, and this requires a restructuring of the transport sector. A technological leap for vehicles and the transport sector is underway, which means that the sector needs to quickly relate to automation, digitization and connected solutions. Important components in climate change are the introduction of sustainable fuels, with electrification as an important part. Connecting freight transport around nodes is an important part of the transition, but meets obstacles to coordination and learning challenges.
The Digital Transport Southern Stockholm (DTSS) project aims to establish, through research-based knowledge, model generation and simulation, a consensus between key players in the southern part of the Stockholm region on how smart, multimodal forms of operation and management can be established for freight transport, which meet the requirements for transport efficiency, climate adaptation and road safety. The results benefit both external actors / partners and the Swedish Transport Administration, for the Swedish Transport Administration as concrete requirements for road construction.
As a Researcher fellow in this project, you will build models that connect the various multimodal activities to enable scenario analysis together with the stakeholders. Traffic and logistics flows, the value chain, the energy network, data flows and other digitization aspects related to the entire value chain are included in the model and different abstract levels and details will need to be taken care of. It is therefore important that you have knowledge and experience in traffic or logistics modeling and have knowledge of how ontologies can be used to connect domain-specific models.
From the scenario analyzes, we aim to obtain concrete information about collective and individual investment needs, early identification of possible bottlenecks, and of scalability in solutions and practical applications. Your work will contribute to creating important conditions for learning in the region, but also in a broader geographical perspective.
