Materials with new features and improved performance are important components for a sustainable development. In this context, materials based on cellulose fibers have many important properties.
We are currently looking for a postdoctoral fellow in modeling deformation and damage mechanisms in the forming of advanced fiber network structures. The aim is to develop a basic understanding of the mechanical properties of both new and recycled cellulose fibers when processed in various forming techniques. The results obtained should be used in design guidelines to be able to produce complex 3D-shaped packages while the need for materials can be minimized.
The specific task in the postdoctoral position is to study through characterization, modeling and simulations how different material and process parameters affect the shaping process and the material's properties. Both micro- and macromechanical analyzes are relevant and methods such as microcomputer tomography and fiber network simulations with the finite element method will be used.
