Job description

InfraVis is a national research infrastructure funded by the Swedish Research Council in support of scientific advancement through the application of state-of-the-art data analysis and visualization techniques. The goals are to significantly improve data analysis support, address new challenges involving large and complex data and create competitive advantages for Swedish researchers. The infrastructure consists of visualization experts working with various software solutions and access to high-end visualization laboratories. Users of InfraVis will be offered assistance through a national helpdesk with rapid response times as well as in-depth projects addressing specific data and software challenges. InfraVis will also provide software solutions based on development in connected research groups, curation of international software and best practise, and user training in the form of courses, seminars and on-line documentation.

In this position you will assist scientists in visualizing and analyzing their data.This can be described as User Support. InfraVis application experts operate a helpdesk for front-line support with rapid response times for generic answers as well as pointers to software resources and documentation. Requests can be escalated to mid-level support where typically InfraVis application experts will aid in issues involving the data specific to a user’s request. InfraVis application experts are also involved in tailoring software and even development of new and application-specific approaches for visual data analysis and communication. InfraVis application experts may also take part in outreach and communication activities, user training, software curation and documentation, the development of the infrastructure itself as well as internal training and self-evaluation.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence: Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a closely related area
  • English language skills equivalent to English B/6, since it is needed in the daily work tasks
  • Swedish language skills in order to perform many of the work tasks.

The applicant must have demonstrated skills in software development and data analysis.This specifically refers to the list of desired skills provided below:

  • Visual data analysis
  • Statistical data analysis
  • Machine learning
  • Data cleaning and pre-processing
  • Software engineering including proper documentation
  • Programming languages:
