Architectural Technology
The subject of architectural technology deepens the relationship between architecture and technology, with a specific focus on sustainability and architectural design. It further develops the understanding of structures, materials, and sustainability in relation to the importance of digital tools and interdisciplinary methods for architectural design and production. Within the subject, new methods and theories are also developed in the teaching of technology and sustainability to prospective architects.
The position involves participation in research and teaching in the subject area at basic and advanced levels in architectural education as well as supervision and teaching at doctoral level. In addition to teaching, this includes course and examination responsibilities as well as pedagogical development. The employment may include administrative and management assignments in relation to both research and teaching.
The associate professor is expected to develop a strong pedagogical profile for the teaching of sustainability and architectural technology to future architects, and to build up research with practice-based research methods. The associate professor will be given the opportunity to develop and test new teaching models integrated with research and thus contribute to the growing international research field within the subject. The associate professor is also expected to independently establish new collaborations and research projects, through research applications and with the support of external funds, as well as to lead and develop research both within the subject area and in collaboration with other research areas within the department and beyond at KTH.
An advanced workshop environment and lab are linked to the research area and the architectural technology subject. The lecturer is expected to contribute to the development of this environment in close dialogue with colleagues, students, other departments at KTH and in collaboration with the architecture profession.
