Job description

The group in theoretical particle physics at the Division of Particle and Astroparticle Physics, Department of Physics, School of Engineering Sciences, KTH Royal Institute of Technology announces a two-year position as postdoc. The group also participates in the Oskar Klein Centre (OKC). The group’s research focus is physics beyond the Standard Model and includes especially neutrino physics.

This research project will be focused on theoretical and phenomenological research about neutrinos with an emphasis on (i) investigations of the physics reach of the proposed neutrino experiment ESSnuSB and its detectors based on non-beam physics as well as sensitivity studies of ESSnuSB and its detectors with respect to sterile neutrinos and other new physics searches, (ii) comparison of the performance of the ESSnuSB with that of other planned experiments, and (iii) theoretical studies of neutrino physics beyond the Standard Model. The work on (i) and (ii) should amount to a minimum of 50 % of full-time working time.

In the position, a limited amount of teaching may be included depending on both the interest of the successful applicant and the availability at the department.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • An applicant should have a strong background in phenomenological research on neutrino physics as well as a solid knowledge of simulating neutrino oscillation experiments.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • The successful applicant should be strongly motivated, have the capability to work independently as well as in collaboration with members of the research group, and have good communication skills.
  • It is commendable if you have teaching abilities.
  • In addition, the successful applicant should have awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.

About the employment
