School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health at KTH

The SciLifeLab Drug Discovery & Development platform (SciLifeLab DDD, www.scilifelab.se/units/ddd-platform/) comprises several units with unique competencies related to biologics and small molecule drug discovery and development. Typically, our drug development projects stem from academic basic science in which opportunities to intervene with disease processes with biologics, oligonucleotides, or small molecules have been identified and perceived to have commercial potential.

The Human Antibody Therapeutics (HAT) consists of six senior researchers, scientifically supported by three platform scientific directors (professor level). The unit's primary responsibility is to drive the DDD antibody drug discovery programs and to deliver tailor-made antibody candidates with a proven translational effect. The in-house developed phage-display human antibody libraries are an essential component of this work. The projects are progressed in close collaboration with primarily the Protein Expression and Characterization unit and the other competencies in the SciLifeLab DDD infrastructure (approx. 45 employees) as well as with academic principal investigators (PIs). The team is also responsible for additional in vitro selection-based methods, such as DNA-encoded chemical libraries for discovering small molecule drug candidates.

The Department of Protein Science, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health (CBH School) at KTH, is now looking to recruit a research engineer to the Human Antibody Therapeutics (HAT) unit at SciLifeLab DDD in Stockholm.

Job description

The job includes the following main tasks:

  • in vitro selection of antibody candidates using phage display and the identification of unique binders
  • characterization of binding and biophysical properties using a variety of techniques
  • protein engineering to functionalize and modify antibody candidates
  • development of new modalities for protein-protein interactions
  • documentation and reporting of results

The position offers excellent opportunities for learning and development since our ambition is that every group member should become as versatile as possible.
